Maria Fernanda Sanchez
Director of Operations & Chief Compliance Officer, Maria Fernanda Sanchez Acuña currently works as Director of Operations at Altura Capital, where she oversees operations, technology, compliance, human resources and talent management, bringing institutional-grade discipline to the firm's day-to-day infrastructure and organizational effectiveness. She brings more than 25 years of experience building and leading financial and operational infrastructure across Latin America, most recently as Regional CFO & Controller for the Andean Region (Colombia, Peru, and Chile) at CSI Leasing, a role she held for over 15 years. In that position, she operated well beyond a conventional CFO mandate — functioning in practice as a Regional COO-CFO — with responsibility spanning Treasury, Operations, Accounting, and Human Resources. She managed a regional cash flow engine across three countries, delivered consolidated financial statements sustaining institutional-grade reporting standards, and served as a trusted strategic advisor to executive leadership and the Board on financial intelligence, risk, and value-creation.
Earlier in her career, she was Regional Internal Control Director for South America, Central America, and the Caribbean at Cemex, where she was promoted from Manager to Director within twelve months. There, she designed enterprise-wide Risk and Control Matrices across Commercial, Finance, Logistics, Procurement, Production, and HR, led SOX compliance monitoring, and managed sensitive investigations into fraud and ethics violations, including cases involving senior management. She began her career as a Regional Auditor for Nestlé’s Andean operations, an experience that included a selective international audit assignment with Nestlé Purina in the United Kingdom — a distinction reserved for high-potential audit professionals.
Across her career, Maria Fernanda has led cross-functional regional teams, partnered with Boards and global headquarters on strategic decision-making, and built organizational structures capable of sustaining rapid growth.
