Gerry Lopez is a global business executive with nearly 40 years of experience leading transformations and creating shareholder value across diverse businesses and industries. From 2018 to 2022 he served as Head of the Operating Group at Softbank Investment Advisors and Executive-in-Residence advising portfolio Companies in the consumer sector. Gerry has served as CEO of private equity portfolio companies, including AMC Theatres (Apollo, Carlyle, Bain, and others) and Extended Stay America (Blackstone, Centerbridge, and Pauson). He served as a Multi-Unit Retail Executive at Starbucks, PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble and Handleman Company.

As an independent corporate director, he serves on the Boards CBRE, Newell Brands Inc., and Realty Income. Past board services includes TXU, Safeco, REI, National CineMedia, Brinker International, Newell Brands, AMC Theatres, Extended Stay America, and OYO Hotels. He has done business in North America, Asia, UK, EU, and Latin America. As a highly visible businessman and community member, Gerry has been featured by CNBC, Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, among others.

Born in Cuba, Gerry spent his childhood in Miami and Puerto Rico. He is fluent in Spanish and enjoys the occasional conversation in Portuguese. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from GWU and a Master’s degree in Business Administration with Second Year Honors from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business. GWU awarded Gerry the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2014.
