Legal CounselSantiago is a New York-based attorney and of counsel at Stairs Dillenbeck Finley Mayer, a New York boutique corporate law firm. He has over 30 years of transactional and corporate experience.
Santiago is Altura’s senior external legal advisor. He brings extensive legal knowledge as well as entrepreneurial experience to Altura.
Santiago is a graduate of the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia, and obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from Harvard Law School.
He began his career at the Colombian Tax Department and at Brown & Wood (now Sidley) in New York. Santiago joined Stairs Dillenbeck as an associate and became a partner. He also worked with R&S International Law Group in Miami. Santiago represents several Hispanic-owned businesses and Latin American and European families doing business in the United States.
Santiago was part of an investment group that acquired a majority stake in the Colombian professional soccer team Club Deportivo los Millonarios and was member of its board for several years as well as its President. He acquired US television rights to South and Central American international soccer tournaments and broadcast them in the US over closed circuit pay-per-view. He has promoted international soccer matches in the US and in Jamaica and held AC Milan’s US and Canada franchise for junior camps.
Santiago is an avid reforester of native species in Tumaco, Colombia.
He currently lives in Fort Lauderdale with his wife.
